Some tips for the first time Vim user
- Be patient with yourself
- Learn to touch type
- Use the hjkl keys
- Ignore "visual mode" (for now)
- Ignore the .vimrc, plugins, and vimscript (for now)
- Practice
- Stop saying "why isn't this like xyz?" (some other editor)
- Don't take any wooden nickles.
You can't learn everything all at once.
It takes time to build "muscle memory".
Muscle memory of course has little or nothing to do with muscle.
It is programming your brain to produce certain actions when you
have certain thoughts and desires.
Practice and time are the only things that work.
