Mastering your Canon camera - General overview

October 13, 2013

I am going to talk about the controls on three different cameras, pretty much in parallel. The cameras I have chosen to discuss are the 20D, the 5D Mark II, and the 1D Mark III. This is for the simple reason that these are the cameras that I own. This may be confusing for the reader who has only one of these camera (or some other camera), but it is very useful for me since it lets me compare and contrast each of my cameras.

Note that when I refer to the "wheel", I am referring to the big thing on the back of the camera with the button in the middle. When I refer to the "dial", I am referring to the thing you can spin that is just behind the shutter button. When I refer to the joystick, I am referring to what Canon likes to call the "multicontroller", located just above the wheel.
