KiCAD 6.0.x on Fedora

I am running Fedora 37 and getting kicad from the Fedora packages.
It does not work.

It will start, but as soon as you click on "schematic capture" or anything else, it just silently exits (goes away, crashes) with no error message.

KiCAD 5 used to work just fine.

Bugzilla

I submitted a bug on bugzilla:

Wayland or X11

I assumed (apparently wrongly) that Fedora always uses Wayland instead of X11. I am using Xfce, and I do the following to find out what kind of session I have:
loginctl
SESSION  UID USER SEAT  TTY
     10 1004 tom  seat0
loginctl show-session 10
Desktop=xfce
Type=x11
Of course "show-session" gives much more information than that, but I have deleted all but the most relevant lines.

My video card is an Nvidia GeForce GT 1030 and I am using the Nvidia driver -- It reports itself as 525.78.01

Fall back to KiCAD 5

I can find an rpm, but when I try to install it I get:
 Problem: conflicting requests
  - nothing provides python(abi) = 3.9 needed by kicad-1:5.1.9-2.fc34.x86_64
  - nothing provides libGLEW.so.2.1()(64bit) needed by kicad-1:5.1.9-2.fc34.x86_64
