Coffee Roasting - Guatemalan Coffee
I ordered one of the 22 pound "Crown Jewel" packages from Royal Coffee.
CJ1429 - Guatemala Antigua Luis Pedro Zelaya greenhouse dried bourbon
The 22 pound box sold for 144.32, so 6.56 per pound.
They say this is an easy to work with classic Guatemala Antigua coffee.
Apparently his "Bella Carmona" coffees are well known and well regarded.
It is a traditonal washed coffee, greenhouse dried on raised beds.
Described as an "easy-drinking sweet coffee"
Some background on Guatemala
Guatemala is the northern most of the Central American countries, sitting adjacent to Mexico.
In fact the Chiapas region of Mexico is just west of the Huehuetenango region of Guatemala.
My beans were harvested October 2020 to February 2021.
This coffee was grown at 1500-1650 meters elevation (4900 to 5400 feet).
Sacatepéquez department is one of 22 departments that comprise Guatemala.
The capital is Antigua -- this is pretty much dead center in Guatemala.
Another coffee from Huehuetenango
Another crown jewel from Guatemala as being offered, this one from Huehuetenango, which is in
the northwest corner of Guatemala. This coffee was harvested January to April of 2021 and was
selling for 128.04 for the 22 pounds (5.82 per pound). I opted for the slightly more expensive
and more classic Antigua.
