Some birds in the Huachuca Mountains

It was 8:00 AM on May 10, 2024. I was camped in a nice canyon on the south side of the Huachuca Mountains, not far from Sunnyside.

While I was finishing breakfast, I set my phone on the hood of my vehicle running the "Merlin" software. I was astounded when the following list accumulated in only 2 minutes:

Elegant Trogon
Western Wood Peewee
Western Tanager
Dusky-capped Flycatcher
Painted Redstart
Lucy's Warbler
Ash-throated Flycatcher
Black-header Grosbeak
Gray Hawk
Grace's Warbler
Flame-colored Tanager
Plumbeous Vireo
Olive Warbler
Buff-breasted Flycatcher
Black-throated Gray Warbler
Bullock's Oriole
House Finch
Great Kiskadee
Eastern Bluebird
American Robin
Brown-crested Flycatcher
White-breasted Nuthatch
Yellow-rumped Warbler
That's right, 23 species in 2 minutes, 9 seconds according to the file logged on my phone.

Mind you, I saw none of these. I may have heard "birds", but had no idea all of this was going on. I really ought to return to this area again this spring (2025).
